Katy McKinney, a founding member of the Lago Flute Quartet, is an active performer and seeker of new works for flute and piccolo. She newly resides in Los Angeles, California. Katy recently received her Bachelor of the Humanities and Arts in Hispanic Studies and Music Performance at Carnegie Mellon University, where she studied with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza.
Previously, Katy performed under Kurt Masur and Roberto Minczuk in the Academic Orchestra of the International Music Festival in Campos do Jordão, Brasil. She also performed with select members of the São Paulo Symphony in the festival’s opera company. She has attended the Brevard Music Festival.
