Alan Berquist, a native of California, started his study of flute at the age of six. His former teachers include Susan Clark and Caryl Mae Scott. He studied with Linda Lukas at San Francisco State University and earned his Bachelors in Flute Performance from Florida State University, studying with Stephanie Jutt and Eva Amsler. His Masters in Flute Performance is from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying again with Stephanie Jutt. He currently studies with Alberto Almarza in the Certificate in Advanced Flute Studies program at Carnegie Mellon University. Alan was part of the 2001 American Wind Symphony Orchestra, 2002 College Light Opera Company, 2004 Gary Schocker Masterclass, and a volunteer for the Bach Dancing and Dynomite Society (WI) from 2003-2005. He also served as the Associate Program Chair for the National Flute Association's 2004 Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. He has played with the Oakland Youth Orchestra, Diablo Symphony Orchestra, Madison Symphony Orchestra, and has performed live on Wisconsin Public Radio's Sunday Afternoon Live from the Elvehjem Series with Stephanie Jutt. |
